IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR EVACUATION ON MARCH 5, 2023

Please inform yourself from Saturday March 4th regularly about the current status

 

Dear Laatzenerinnen and Laatzener,

two areas of the city may contain World War II Bombs.

On March 5th, these areas will be explored more closely and rendered harmless, if necessary.

In order to avoid any possible danger to the inhabitants, the residents of Laatzen-Mitte and parts of Rethen and Grasdorf will be evacuated on March 5th.

 

What do you have to do?

You have to leave the house until 7 a.m. on March 5th. If possible, Organize a place in advance, where you can spend the day.

Follow the instructions of the emergency services. The evacuation is for your safety and applies until the official all-clear.

How to get information?

All current information can be found on the website of the city of Laatzen: www.laatzen.de

Where should I go in case of evacuation?

Organize your whereabouts independently. Please check if you can find accommodation outside the evacuation area. Examples include relatives, friends, acquaintances or work colleagues

People who are cared for at home, should be placed independently in short-term care or similar.

For those who have not found a place to stay, we offer emergency accommodation.

WE WILL ANNOUNCE THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE ACCOMMODATION IN TIME.

Pets such as cats and dogs can be brought to the accommodation in an emergency. There is a leash and basket obligation.

How should I leave the evacuation area?

Please organize your departure and return journey as independently as possible.

On March 5th, special ÜSTRA bus lines will be available for everyone. Starting at 7:00 a.m., they drive people from the affected areas of the city to the emergency shelter. The stops will be announced in time.

After the all-clear, the buses drive back from the accommodation.

Use of the buses is free. You don't have to buy a ticket.

ATTENTION: Bus lines 340/341, 345, 346, 347, 348 and tram lines 1 and 2 are affected by the measures and will NOT run as usual on March 5th. Please note the notices at the bus stops.

Do you or someone you know need a wheelchair transport? Then you can order an ambulance from MID-FEBRUARY. The transports are carried out exclusively to the emergency shelter.

What should I take with me?

The emergency luggage includes, for example:

ID cards, health insurance chip card, important personal documents

personal medicines and hygiene items

Glasses, Money, debit card, Cellphone, personal phone numbers

Please bring special meals such as baby food with you

Clothing according to the weather, possibly a blanket

Activity materials such as magazines, books, games, music players with headphones.
